Granite

The granite used to fabricate countertops occurs naturally in the Earth and all granite colors exhibit beautiful variations in shade and pattern. These variations are what give it such a unique look and feel.

ABOUT GRANITE

KBR takes pride to ensure variations in shade and pattern match well across seams.  The differences in variations can range from consistent natural beauty to big sweeping veining and swirl patterns.  No two stones are exactly alike and that’s one of the many benefits of choosing granite for your next project.

Our Granite

KBR stocks 40+ granite colors from Italy, Brazil, India and the US.  Like many products, not all are of the same quality.   We only buy superior grade granite. In addition, our viewing center is designed to create the truest representation of the stone relative to standard lighting in homes.  We select our stone based off of industry trends, selecting only the best stones for design-friendly colors.

Granite is an extremely durable igneous rock formed under the earth’s crust over billions of years. Granite is extremely hard, resistant to scratching and durable under extreme heat.  Granite can chip and crack due to abuse. Granite requires sealing, but proper sealing can help resist stains and etching.

Granite comes in 100s of colors and a variety of compositions.  For instance, some granites have a very consistent and dense makeup where very few differing minerals are included in the rock.  Other granites, such as Bianco Antico, which you can view on our Inventory site, is composed of several different minerals that create natural fissures and deposits.  These types of granite tend to have natural vein and movement patterns, pitting, and can have stress marks that are created as part of the fabrication process.  Opinions vary, but many believe this is what gives natural stone it’s beauty.  Be sure to inquire about these items during your visit to KBR.

Most of our Granite comes from South America.  We also import granite from India, Italy, and parts of North America.

Start with soap and water, or a mild dish detergent. to regularly clean and disinfect your countertop.  Do not use harsh chemicals such as bleach or acidic based cleaners.  See additional care & maintenance facts in  our Countertop Characteristics & Care guide.
